Nicholas Galanin is a Tlingit/Unangax̂ artist born in Sitka, Alaska, who favours a conceptual approach to artmaking that address pressing issues of Indigenous representation. Through carefully deployed cultural critiques that expose colonialism and appropriation, the artist often uses humour as a medium alongside photography, sculpture, installation, video and new media. Galanin skillfully navigates the dense politics of cultural representation. His work can be found at the Musée D'Art Contemporain De Baie St-Paul, Quebec; the Anchorage Museum, Anchorage, Alaska and the Burke Museum in Seattle.
