Melanie Authier is an Ottawa-based painter known for lush imagined landscapes. Working in acrylic, the artist has developed a technique to manipulate the medium to produce a depth of field similar to that of oil painting. Authier received a BFA from Concordia University, Montreal (2002) and an MFA from the University of Guelph (2006). She has exhibited widely in Canada and is currently preparing for a major solo touring exhibition curated by Robert Enright. Her work is included in the collections of the National Gallery of Canada, The Art Gallery of Guelph and the Carleton University Art Gallery among others.
