A self-taught artist, Louis de Niverville worked as a graphic designer for the CBC from 1957-63, and began to create the visionary works he became known for when he created a mural for Expo Theatre in Montreal in 1966. His art incorporates collage as a primary method, creating dreamlike landscapes and scenes that draw on childhood memories and experiences, as well as the artist’s own dreams. His work has been exhibited throughout Canada and the United States, and is in the collection of institutions such as the National Gallery of Canada and the Art Gallery of Ontario.
